Why do you not bill insurance?I choose not to bill insurance due to the insurance companies requiring a diagnosis for many therapy services and once they feel you are better, they may not cover the services anymore. I believe that people are more than a diagnosis and a company making decisions for you of when you do or do not need help is not effective for continuity of care. By private pay to me directly, you are ensuring the costs go directly to the provider and not the insurance companies or others. I try to keep my costs aligned with industry averages, please let me know if there is a concern of inability to pay costs.
-
What if I do want to use my insurance?I will gladly provide you with a "superbill" so that you can seek reimbursement from your insurance company. Your insurance company may or may not defray the cost of counseling. You may call the member services number on the back of your insurance card to inquire about their out-of-network coverage for outpatient mental health services.
-
What can I expect at the first session?During the first session, I will first need to see your photo ID and then will review intake paperwork with you to ensure that you clearly understand the information contained within. I will work with you to complete a comprehensive clinical assessment. You and I will then identify and document treatment goals that are tailored specifically for your desired counseling outcome.
